Last week, we discovered an exploit that enabled cheaters to refine equipment in an unfair way. We worked swiftly with WebZen to roll out a new game version that will prevent those illegal actions in the future.

However, when this fix was implemented during the maintenance, we also removed all cheated items as a precautionary measure. The next steps remained under discussion, as there were several different aspects that required further consideration and discussion.

First and foremost, our goal was to find the fairest solution for the majority of our players, and having such a large amount of cheated items in circulation could impactfully devalue the time and effort honest players spent to acquire and upgrade such equipment.

With this in mind, we extracted all the purchasing information and furthermore all the items used to apply and change bonuses to the equipment and were ready to give those back to the players. Some would have received more some fewer upgrade materials because of the luck they had in applying the bonuses to the equipment.

But now we decided, that we give all items back to the players, that bought those items because we need to keep the integrity of the shops and markets.

It should never be that case, that you cannot trust in the player-to-player trades, that are conducted in a legal, fair and honest way on the side of the buyer.

The persons, who bought the items in honest faith did nothing wrong and will not be punished.

All accounts that executed the exploit have been immediately banned, and we are still investigating other possible violators who may have also acted against out community guidelines and regulations.

This process should be concluded by the time of the maintenance on Wednesday February 16. Please note that we do plan to give back items in question during that downtime.

Dear Community,

During the last maintenance we removed some items that were created due to a vulnerability in the game.

Some of these items were already in circulation in the market and were in possession of players that bought them without knowing its origin.

We could not allow these items to continue to circulate freely on the servers with the penalty of devaluing the items that were created in a fair way and with the effort of fair players.

Therefore, all the items have been deleted and will not be recovered. However, we will refund the cost of the items (yang/wons) as well as recover some premium items used in these items such as: - Reinforce, Blessing Marble, Enchant, Powershard Chest and Orisons.

We are still working to find the best way to process the refund. We aim to process these refunds during the next weekly maintenance

Dear Players,

Unfortunately, during today‘s maintenance we enocuntered an issue that caused the removal of the depot restrictions on DE528 and DE529. The depot restrictions have already been put back in place, however in order to ensure that no player can get an unfair advantage, it was decided to roll back affected servers to 8:00 CEST this morning before the maintenance.

The items that have been distibuted from the depot on these servers will be put back into the depot tomorrow. Dragon Coins for Item Shop purchases after today‘s maintenance will also be refunded tomorrow.

We will also be looking into running additional events as compensation for the additional downtime.

Dear players,

In order to secure a plot of land for your guild, you and your fellow guild mates will have to collect as many Land Certificates as possible. These may be obtained from Metins and Bosses from the 20th of March until the 3rd of April 23:59CET.

After that, the winners will be determined by counting the number of Land Certificates individual guilds have been able to obtain.

Please note that only Land Certificates in your inventories will be counted. Do not put them in storage!

New rules came into effect in the EU and EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) on 14th September 2019 governing online payments and online banking which affect banking-based payment methods (e.g. credit cards, SOFORT, Giropay, online transfers etc.).

The new rules, laid down by the EU’s so-called Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2), aim to make payments and online banking more secure and protect consumers against fraud.

As part of the change, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is required during the payment process and online banking.

The error "there was a problem please contact support" means your account is linked, and therefore cannot be logged anymore using the metin2client launcher, only the gameforge launcher

It should be possible to migrate an account from one gameforge account to another, to start this process you need to send a ticket to support http://support.metin2.co.uk

While this currently still is possible, it is by no means the intended way to log into the game.

After a transitional period (probably a couple of weeks, no exact date yet), this option will be removed and login will only be possible via the GF client.

Hence, unlinking Metin2 game accounts from a Gameforge Accounts is not an option.

Please contact game support and request a password change for the game account. Currently, there is no option to add game accounts that use passwords with more than 16 characters to a Gameforge account.

How can I access account settings / ranking / shop now?

All the required links are visible in the launcher, just click the icon having three dots.

Can I play on two different servers simultaneously using the same game account on a single PC?

Yes. To do so, go back to the GF client after starting the game, click the arrow nexxt to the "In game"-Button and choose play.
